Death Ensemble and an Icon Are Headed to Scare-a-Con!

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s Scare-a-Con weekend!  Nestled away upstate, in Verona, NY, the three-day con takes over the Turning Stone Casino.  With a decent sized guest list and a unique setting, this con should turn out to be lots of fun.  So I’m gambling on that, and taking the trip tomorrow!

An Icon in every sense of the word

But I won’t be alone.  Coming with me, Mike Cucinotta!  The co-founder of Icons of Fright and the man who gave me my first gig in horror blogging, Mike is the quirky genius and SHAKMA fan who for years ran blogging’s 4th biggest horror site.  So I’m not just coming with backup.  I’m coming with an Icon!

Upping the ante, DE contributor and Horror Movie BBQ creator Chadworth E. Young will also be there on Saturday.  Chad doesn’t do many cons anymore, so if you want to get inside knowledge on yard sale treasure hunting or HELLO MARY LOU: PROM NIGHT II, make sure to catch up with him!  And listen on Friday nights for the Dead Air Podcast, which he co-hosts with Jeff Konopka and Jesse Bartel!

You have plenty to check out at Scare-a-Con even if you don’t bet it all on black!  The guest list includes Anthony Michael Hall, Felissa Rose, Hell of Famer Lloyd Kaufman, Dukes of Hazzard’s John Schneider, and Tales from the Crypt’s John Kassir!  If none of them bring you to the table, there’s also “Chop Top” Bill Moseley, Adrienne Barbeau, leg squeezer Tawny Kitaen, and Dawn of the Dead action hero Ken Foree!  Still feeling left light?  That’s not even the full guest list!  And if you end up spending your paycheck on autographs, you can always play nickel slots and win it all back!

If autographs aren’t your thing, there are also panels and screenings!  There’s a Bert I. Gordon retrospective, full of BIG MONSTERS!!!  Get all the goods on how to make and distribute your horror film from the men and women who know how!  And ask Lloyd Kaufman if there will ever be a TERROR FIRMER 2!

So double down and join us at Scare-a-Con this weekend. I’ll be there Saturday and Sunday, so if you enjoy reading Death Ensemble or want to meet an Icon in Mike, say hello (And I’ll sign off with my picture below, if any of you don’t know what my ugly mug looks like). I bet it’ll be a lot of fun!
